A warm welcome to old friends and new ones! It's been some time since we've been in touch. It's strange to be writing you in freezing cold and snow, but how many of you can recall the dreaded day last October we ran in temperatures above 90 degrees.

I hope you have some time to rest and relax and think about your choices for this year. Our Galloway program is better and stronger than ever. Start planning now to join us in mid-April, and to meet with Jeff Galloway at our annual kickoff to ask questions, sign up and register in late March. Want to register now? Go to www.active.com

Kaye Phillips, Program Director

I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you this year. Do you realize you will be in 1/10th of 1% of the population of the world to complete a marathon? It's with great pleasure that I look forward to helping achieve your goal. I never thought I would come close to training for a marathon, but here I am 9 years later, with 7 marathons under my belt.

This is my fourth year as Program Director, and 7th as a Pace Group Leader. My all time favorite marathon would probably be my first. I cried for two days. The greatest joy I have now is meeting you guys on Saturday morning for our "long runs" along the lakefront. Sometimes we meet for coffee, breakfast or some other interesting treats that you need to run to find out. It does not get any better than that.

In my real life, I am a NCLB Title I Coordinator for the Chicago Public Schools. Translation? A very non-traditional, but rewarding job working with children of ages to provide education and services to them as well their parents.

I am very active in my church, and also love working in my yard. I guess that leaves the rest of the time to running, and meeting you guys every weekend for 26 weeks. I have established some very close relationships, and met some of the nicest people I will ever know. Our common goal - training for what we love to do, puts all of us in a league of our own. That experience is indescribable.

See you at the finish line,

Kaye

Joe Stoiber, Co-Director

Hello Runners! My name is Joe Stoiber, and I am the Co-Director for the Galloway Program here in Chicago. This is my sixth year with Galloway and my fourth year assisting Kaye.

I am very excited to participate again as a Pace Group Leader.  I really enjoyed my first year running with Galloway back in 2003, but I think it may may be even more fun helping out those new runners cross the finish line in their very first marathon.  I feel the journey is just as enjoyable as reaching our goal. I have met some of my best friends through this program and hope you will do the same.

I have complete eight marathons. I have run Chicago (2), Dayton, Ohio Air Force (2), Minneapolis - Twin Cities, San Diego - Rock-N- Roll, Milwaukee and Paris.  My most memorable marathon was my first. I completed the Air Force Marathon with four other friends in 4:59:19. That was a full 41 seconds better than our 5 hour goal.

I am the owner of a software training/consulting business. I love all sports. I am a huge Cubs fan that always believes that this is our year. Oh yes, I love running.

See you on the trails.
Happy Running!
Joe
